Now a classic in the Ultra Series calendar - with white cliffs, sandy beaches, stunning views and an undulating coastal path to test you.

Whether you're a keen walker taking on your first endurance event, or even a seasoned marathon runner looking to step up the distance, you'll get the best support & hospitality through day & night all the way to the finish line where a well earnt celebration awaits!

The Full Challenge starts at Chale, in the south, and at 106km and over 2,100 metres climb - makes it a tough one! The 2 Day Full Challenge Option enables rest at Half-Way in Cowes, with the whole route in daylight.

The 1st Quarter Challenge follows the path along the south of the Island to the iconic Needles, and ideal for novice challengers. If you push on for the 1st Half - it's an Ultra Marathon distance - all the way to historic Cowes.

FULL - Chale to Chale

Iow Challenge Options Full

Starting at Chale in the south at our basecamp - this is a tough circular route with over 2,000m of climb across the full 106km - but you will be rewarded with stunning views, varied scenery, and an incredible sense of achievement. With a halfway point up at historic Cowes with its famous harbour this is one not to be missed.

Distance & Elevation: 106km / 1960m

Start location: Chale, Isle of Wight  

Start times

  • 6.45am - 7am Runners
  • 7am -10am Walkers/Joggers

 

Finish location: Chale, Isle of Wight - showers & rest areas will be available

 

Finish times: 

  • Runners - 9 - 16 hrs
  • Joggers - 16 - 20 hrs
  • Walkers - 20 - 36 hrs (max time)

 

Food & Rest Stops: Every 10-15km under marquees with support - including toilets, medics, Massage, changing rooms, rest areas, hot & cold drinks, snacks and much more.

  • 25km - picnic sandwich lunch
  • 54km - 3 course hot meal
  • 80km - dinner / cooked breakfast
  • 106km - cooked breakfast / BBQ

Iow Challenge Options Full2

Starting at the Island's southern point, this is a tough circular route with over ~2,000m of climbing across the full 106km - but you will be rewarded with incredible views as you reach the top of these climbs. With a halfway point up at famous Cowes, home of the famous Yacht Haven, and unparalleled sea views, this is on not to be missed. On this 2 day Challenge, you'll see the whole of the Island during the day. 

 

Distance & Elevation: 

  • Day 1: 54km/ 1080m
  • Day 2: 52km/ 880m

  • Day 1: Sat 6.45 - 7am runners, 7-10am walkers 
  • Day 2: Sun 6 - 8am

Iow Challenge Options Half1

The 1st Half Isle of Wight Challenge route is one not to be missed - starting from the southern tip of the Island, you will take on 52km of climbs, hills and descents along this varied and scenic trail. Setting out across this area of natural beauty with great viewpoints of the Needles, you will climb almost 800m of ascent (and descents!), with stops along the way to keep you energised and going.

Iow Challenge Options Half2

The route starts at the northern point of the Island in West Cowes clockwise around the east of the Island to Culver Down. From here you'll make your way to the fabulous viewpoint that is Ventnor before the last kms to Chale in the south.

Our 1st Quarter Challenge gives you the best of the Island's scenery along it's southern coast and finishing at the mighty Needles.
